He was an American restaurant industry executive and CEO of American fast food restaurant McDonald's. He graduated from Drake University. During his career Turner founded the McDonald's Hamburger University, which aims to prepare managers and ordinary employees. He served as a director for Aon Corporation, Baxter International, and W. W. Grainger and he was also a member of the Bohemian Club and Sigma Phi Epsilon.
